Dr. Kimberly McLaren
Dr. Kimberly McLaren is a clinical instructor at the
University of Washington in Seattle, where she supervises and teaches
residents and medical students in the Harborview Medical Center Crisis
Triage Unit. She completed her residency at the Baylor College of Medicine
Menninger Department of Psychiatry in Houston, Texas in 2004. During
residency, Dr. McLaren received recognition for teaching medical students.
She collaborated with other chief residents to organize a
multi-disciplinary lecture series for residents in various specialty
areas. She worked as part of a task force to develop a curriculum for a
resident Clinician-Educator Track, one of only two in the nation that help
prepare residents for careers in academia. She has also been active in
organized medicine on a state and national level, and she has been an
advocate for patients by lobbying lawmakers to shape legislative policy.
She is the recipient of a 2004 American Medical Association Foundation
Leadership Award and the American Psychiatric Association/ Aventis
Fellowship for Women Resident Leaders in Psychiatry. Dr. McLaren plans to
continue teaching residents and medical students with the goal of shaping
the next generation of physicians. As a mentor, she hopes to encourage
young physicians to take an active role in the future of medicine.
